My client are a growing developer who have a requirement for a Development Engineer to join their busy Technical team.
The company specialise in mixed tenure housing developments including open market sale, affordable housing, PRS schemes across the North West region.
Development Engineer Role
As a Development Engineer you will be involved with Demolition, Remediation and Enabling works on new developments. Your role will involve working with the in-house Layout Designers and inform them with the most effective developable area, in terms of constraint and re-grade topography by modelling a proposed ground model.
Duties and responsibilities:
" Commission site surveys and reports from external consultants and the design team
" Draft concept drainage designs in line with layout and proposed ground model
" Supporting land acquisition, interoperating geo-environmental reports.
" Upload to NHBC and discharge conditions
" Attend and contribute to design team, engineering, pre-start, and site progress meetings as required for each development.
" Review and check design solutions for road and sewers, foundations, drainage, and proposed levels etc. for technical approval submissions and procurement pack.
" Ensure all design solutions are the most cost effective and practical and comply with planning, building regulations and NHBC/LABC standards.
" Support in respect of Identifying, procure and co-ordinate services/utilities removal/diversion/provision requirements from initial feasibility to order placement/initial call-off including provision of the site services pack at the pre-start hand-over meeting.
" Co-ordinate remediation strategy and MMP approvals, EHO and NHBC/LABC conditions signoffs and validation/verification reports.
" Collate and issue tender, construction and pre-start drawing packages to the required timescales for the programmed start on site.
" Secure technical approval for S38/278 roads and S104 sewers adoptions where required and co-ordinate the bonds through to adoption including POS adoption/transfers and the handover of management companies where necessary
" Arranging inspections with the relevant authorities and subcontractors to progress adoptions as required.
" Undertake regular site visits and check that the works conducted comply with the drawings, specifications and are to the required standards and that any testing or validation criteria has been satisfied.
" Technical Viability Reports to identify engineering abnormal costs etc. to support the Land Manager/Director during the assessment of potential new sites for residential development.
" Use of CAD, PDS/3D modelling software, basic attenuation modelling, Excel and uploading to Document Management Systems
Skills & Experience
" Sound working knowledge of all CAD and other software civil engineering packages
" Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice
" Knowledge of specific design and specification features with regards to road and sewer agreements and maximise value to the Company.
" HNC/HND in a building related topic
" Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards.
" Strong communication, listening and presentation skills with the ability to be able to build effective working relationships both internally and externally
" Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
" Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
