GRADUATE ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR – SOUTHAMPTON

Our in-house multi-disciplinary services include civil, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation, supplemented by the design and manufacture of Control Panels, MCC’s, PLC’s, SCADA and automation systems. We also provide a range of bespoke modular and containerised water & wastewater treatment and fuel conditioning systems.

We have over 800 employees and with a healthy forward order book with a projected turnover of £180m this year, it is an exciting time to join the business.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Graduate Environmental Advisor to join our Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality team at Head Office in Southampton. This role a hybrid role with some office-based work and some site visits. The successful candidate will actively participate in the development, ongoing implementation and maintenance of the environmental element of our SHEQ management systems across the company. A varied and challenging workload spread between system development and project support. Reporting into the Environmental Lead, duties include but are not limited to;

• Review project-specific aspects & impacts, and liaise with project teams to develop appropriate aspects & impacts registers and management plans

• Assist in the drafting and updating of company procedures and associated documentation

• Promote company procedures and associated documentation to staff at all levels

• Periodic review of applicable legislation, good practice guidance and maintain up to date library of documents

• Collation and production of overall company reports and statistical analysis

• Assessment of subcontractors / suppliers and the maintenance of any assessment records

• Maintenance of environmental management systems information and monitoring of data on in house systems

• Assist in the maintenance of environmental monitoring and auditing systems, participate in SHEQ Process Audits

• Liaise with environmental specialists (e.g. ecology, land contamination), regulatory bodies and client representatives

Qualifications:

* BSc Environmental Science or BSc Environmental Engineering or equivalent

Skills:

* Enthusiastic self-starter able to work well in a team

* Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook & Word)

* Good communication skills

* Well organised

* An avid interest in environmental matters

Graduate Scheme:

The Trant Graduate Scheme is offered to all Graduates joining the business. This a period of training and development over 24 months, where you are assigned a mentor to carry out basic training associated with your discipline to enable you move from a Graduate Environmental Advisor, to an Environmental Advisor who would be responsible for managing their own portfolio of projects.

You will initially be inducted into the business and you will receive safety, health, environmental & quality training, spend time on site, learn the company policies & procedures and receive training to use the company Project Management System whilst working with your teams and being allocated a mentor.

You will be guided by your mentor and will become competent in carrying out Environmental tasks. By 12 months, you should have commenced working on your professional review ‘Initial Professional Development’ (IPD) and will be actively engaged in the Professional Forum. At this time, you should be ready to work independently as an Environmental Advisor and by 24 – 36 months you may also be mentoring your own first year Graduate.
