Planning Assistant

Our client, a leading regional construction, utilities and property maintenance main contractor, is looking to employ a Planning Assistant on a permanent basis to operate effectively in a delivery focused and often fast-paced environment, working within the planning department to ensure that information is compiled ready for the work to be carried out within the water utilities sector.
Reporting to the Programme Delivery Manager , the right candidate will have experience with the following:
• Scheme management from concept to completion
• Ensuring all planning criteria have been met prior to the scheme commencement including CDM regulations.
• Liaison with the client and Principal Designer whilst developing the scheme design
• Manage workload to comply with Clients Service Level Agreements
• Manage NRSWA requirements on individual schemes in order to minimise financial risk and non-compliance
• Coordination with local authorities
• Effective liaison with all stakeholders
• Experience in a customer service role, or similar.
• Positive attitude and energetic pace
• Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and integrity
• Ability to make things happen – starter/finisher
• Tact and the ability to deal with difficult situations
The person:
• NRSWA (Awareness)
• The ability to self-motivate and work within a team
• Good spoken and written communication skills at all levels
• Attention to detail
• Confidence in using computer packages and familiarity with planning tools
• The ability to work under pressure to deadlines
• I.T literate particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Team player, but also comfortable working alone.
• Understands the need for respect, sensitivity and discretion in a public facing role.
• Some flexibility of working hours may be required.
• Self-Motivated, enthusiastic and calm under pressure.
• Basic CAD skills
Minimum Experience Needed:
• Experience planning within the construction/utilities sector.
• NRSWA Awareness.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite and planning tools
If rate of pay is a sliding scale what is needed to get to the top amount:
• Demonstratable experience with all points outlined in the job description and minimum experience section
• Professional experience with relevant CAD programme(s)
