About the role
Our client is now recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join them on a full time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will have daily contact with the Technical and Construction teams together with Development staff.
As part of the Commercial Team the role involves management throughout the development process considering design, engineering, best value and quality.
You will help manage the construction procurement, contractual obligations and delivery of potentially complex housing projects to time, budget and quality requirements.
You will be responsible for the day to day contract management of external Sub-Contractors and Suppliers where there will be significant communication and negotiation required.
You will also provide costing information for construction option appraisals.
It is essential that you have completed or you are currently undertaking a relevant technical qualification in Construction or that you are qualified by experience.
A RICS or CIOB Accredited Degree or NVQ would be beneficial for this role.
You will have technical competence to be able to consider and suggest alternative materials and methods and assess their cost effectiveness.
You must be able to identify potential problems and risk; and react accordingly as well as being able to resolve varied issues by analysis of a complex problem or situation and apply process.
It is essential that you are able to work to tight deadlines and that you are able to interpret and work within objectives and targets.
