To develop and manage commercial activities of the business
Work with the commercial manager to assist with the commercial strategy, performance and awareness throughout the Company.
Tracking and Raising Early Warnings, Variations, Compensation Events, Application and Subcontract Packages.
You must have an excellent understanding of the NEC forms of contract along with strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Liaising closely with our Operational staff to raise accurate EWN and CEs
Negotiation and placement of subcontract orders, and certification of payments.
Preparing monthly applications and final accounts and submitting these in accordance with contractual requirements.
Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets and produce Monthly CVRs
Provision of advice on commercial issues to the commercial manager.
Identify and manage risk management and mitigation.
Preparation of contract final accounts.
Maintaining visibility of expenditure to ensure works are completed to budget.
Management of contract applications for payment by clients.
Financial support to the Commercial Manager and preparation of monthly CVR's (cost, value, reconciliation) as when required.
Communicate with clients as required to assist in the delivery of both new and ongoing works,
Attend site visits as required, ensuring client satisfaction and ensuring that no 'risks' arise
Liaise with Project Manager to assist with CE'S, Variations, etc.
Must be highly motivated, persistent and have a keen business acumen
Knowledge & Experience:
Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation dealing in specialist Electric HV/LV.
Solid and up to date knowledge of commercial practice.
Experience of working with Schedule of Rates contracts and other measurement techniques NEC (Opt A) etc.
Experience of organisation development and change, including change project planning and management.
Proven account negotiation experience.Skills & Personal Qualities:
Formal QS Qualification (HND or BSc) – preferred but not essential
A good understanding of complex process systems.
Experience in a similar role from a civils or M&E background
Good level of QS experience
Demonstrable track record of commercial and financial contract management, to an appropriate level.
Can quickly identify changes and potential problems in contracts and performance.
Understands risk and takes appropriate mitigation.
Able to advise colleagues on commercial and financial processes.
Will pursue high standards, recognise improvement opportunities and learn from experience.* Ability to confidently provide solutions and ideas to problems, defend the commercial position and negotiate the best possible outcome.
