The position is for advance works for HS2 and will cover staffordshire and cheshire.
Health Safety & Environmental:
* Set targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance;
* Carry out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan;
* Monitor effectiveness of the H & S Management System;
* Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team;
* Supervise sub-contractor;
* Actively participates in daily briefing meetings.
* Involve in working groups focused on Improvement Areas;
* Supervise the works to ensure they are being executed to the required standard.
* Review productivity in line with short term programme;
* Attend SIC Meetings.
Personal Qualities and Experience:
* Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems;
* Strong communication skills and conflict management;
* Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity, including managing others in this regard;
* Strong work ethic with flexibility to working hours;
* Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility and supervise others in this regard;
* Excellent team player and team leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision. Reports back as necessary to update Line Management;
* Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information;
* Strong communication skills with track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution;
Health Safety & Environmental:
* Good working knowledge of current H & S legislation;
* Proficient in the application of Company Systems;
* Innovative approach to enhancing safe systems of work.
* Able to analyse and offer improvement on the short term programme;
* Understands project KPI’s and has experience of using them to manage performance;
* Able to dynamically shift programme and adapt to circumstances on site whilst maintaining focus on targets;
* Experience in implementing change at short notice and contingency planning;
* Experience in managing work areas spread across a large geographical area and working in rural areas;
* Experienced in the management of ground investigation works.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Strong leadership and management skills, including pursuit of formal qualification;
* Wide ranging independent judgement evident, proven track record in this regard.
* HND Civil Engineering or Above
